They say you should follow your own advice in life. Is it really that easy though?
When I talk to people who are having a rough time I give them all sorts of advice. Tell them what I would do, give suggestions and tips. Most people are happy to take the advice of someone with a few years on them as I have either been through the same situation or know someone who has. There are a few who take offence and think that you are trying to tell them what they ‘should’ be doing with their lives though.
But the biggest problem I find… Following my own advice. I can easily help people solve or find solutions to their own lives but can’t manage to keep my own life in check. I spend my life helping others and not helping myself. I know how bad life can be for some people because I live that life but instead of worrying about myself, I worry about others. Making sure they are happy and always trying to win their approval.
My childhood trauma has turned me into someone who can help others but not myself. I don’t know how to deal with my own pain and suffering and I don’t know how I feel about that.
